It's amazing that many can look at a simple picture and see so many different things. I see this not a picture of pain or heartache, but of promise. Consider the title: "live and let love". I believe there is a word missing...however, a word that can be found in the picture: 'go.'
"Live and let love GO"
See, if we truly "live", we will learn to "love ourselves" for life teaches us who we are (especially when we get out of our comfort zones). As we love ourselves, we are free to love another. Love is never to be sought out or chased after, for it exists within us. Because it exists within us, love is something we can never lose or have taken away by another. Love, in fact, is something that is given. True absolute love is given without the expectation of love in return. We let that red balloon go never knowing or expecting it to return. Pain exists only when we fight to keep love to ourselves (don't go, I need you), chase after it thinking it exists outside of ourselves (why doesn't anyone love me), and/or hold others to expectations (I love you so you had best love me back)...these efforts are ultimately deflating.
The picture states that we must "live" first...be willing to experience LIFE so we may discover who we are and love ourselves... and then "let love go"... release that love out into the world... allowing it to float happily through the air... our gift to all those who happen to look up and gaze upon it.
