Christina, I heard 'Jar of Hearts' some weeks ago, then you were on Steve Wright in the Afternoon.
I was in my teens in the 70's and so admired Carole King Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell - I think that 'Jar of Hearts ' is up there with the best of their songs.
I just bought 'Lovestrong' and it sounds good.
One point I would make - Broken romance is a good source of material but don't overplay it, find something else to write about to broaden your appeal.
